This report that I created during my time at Babson College was one of the most rewarding and gratifying pieces that I had a chance to work on. This report highlights information related to the college itself and events happening in the neighboring towns (Wellesley and Needham). It was the distributed to everyone on the campus, both students and administration, as well as people living in the neighboring towns so it was widely seen by the larger community (about 12,000 pieces were printed).
This piece was sent out every year, but had a few different collaborators each time around. Typically there’s a rotation system and so a different designer will get the opportunity work on it each year. My year was 2017.
Before designing, I gathered the specs of the report, the outside printer I’d be working with, as well as the direct contact for all the information, which was our Public Relations Specialist at the time. I would work in iterations for design, depending on when information was delivered to me, and constantly communicating with the PR specialist and art director. This process went on for 7-8 months before it was finalized and out the door to the printer. From there, I went on the press release to ensure quality print outs as well as proper alignment for each individual page and color check. After it was approved, it was sent out to the entire community.
I was quite proud of this piece, as I love working on magazine type layouts and Adobe InDesign. It was also quite rewarding to see this piece being displayed all around the neighborhood, being read by thousands of people.
