An old acquaintance came to me looking for help in creating a logo for his new podcast, The Security Breakdown. We first went through a series of questions, including:

1. What is your podcast/company about?
2. Is there anything about your company that stands out among other similar podcasts?
3. What mood do you want to portray? Are there any adjectives for this company that you want to see in your logo? Ie.– Whimsical, adventurous, carefree
4. What type of fonts do you prefer? Serif/Sans Serif? Would you rather have a logo with only a graphic, one with text or one with text and a graphic?
5. What colors do you have in mind?
6. After looking at a few examples of logos used in the Apple store app, do you think you would want to have a background color?
7. What places would this logo be used? Ie.– in the app store, on a website?
8. Do you prefer vertical or horizontal logos?
9. Do you have any examples of logos that you lean towards? And why those logos in particular?
10. Does this logo have a due date?

After reviewing the list of questions, we went through a few examples of other podcast series that spoke about information security. We narrowed down a few examples, as well as a large list of hex colors that were selected, that gave me inspiration as to how to start my creative process in designing this logo. Some of the words that were given to me included: informational, fun, and cyber with the usage of cool color tones. And that is where my journey began. I had a lot of fun designing these logos, as my acquaintance gave me quite a bit of freedom. I went for a few different looks and feels, one that gave a more serious tone, two that were a bit more playful and illustration-like, and one in between the three. My one goal was to ensure that the viewers knew that this was some sort of technology podcast, since this is all about information technology, as their name describes.

The end results are the four logos you see on this page. The single image above was the chosen logo and the three below were a few additional options to choose from.
